When we think of HR, we imagine steady hands during crises—those who guide layoffs and shape culture. But what happens when they fail? Who listens to their side of the story?
At The Failure Institute, we knew the answer: HR leaders need a safe space too. So, with Deel, we created it.
This exclusive Get Fired session gathered over 30 HR executives from companies with 1,000+ employees in CDMX. With support from Cristiano Soares and Alejandra Niño at Deel, and moderated by our CEO Pepe Villatoro, this experience became a milestone for HR leaders sharing failure.
Held at Flexoffices México, the event offered a space for raw, vulnerable, and impactful storytelling.
Deel’s goal was clear: connect deeply with HR leaders, not through selling, but through value. They found the perfect partner in The Failure Institute. Our mission? Empower HR leaders sharing failure to feel safe, respected, and connected.
Together, we created a Get Fired edition designed for enterprise-level HR professionals—driven by authenticity and learning.
This session had one mission:
Use the power of The Failure Institute’s storytelling and community to spark honest conversations around hiring and payroll challenges.
Hugo, Head of People & Culture at Tramontina, spoke about fast growth gone wrong. Ambitious hiring, poor planning, and lack of alignment cost the team dearly.
“The person left, and we were stuck with the problem. There was no commitment, and the decisions just led to more frustration.”
Rosario, HRBP at Chubb, shared a failed tech migration. The system failed both in testing and live environments, causing internal chaos.
“We had two failed attempts. The app didn’t work. Not in testing, not in the field. The internal impact was much bigger than we expected.”
After the talks, something changed. The room evolved into a new kind of network. One driven by HR leaders sharing failure, supporting each other from a vulnerable, real place.
As Laiza Ruiz from IBM said:
“It’s my first time at one of these events. The disruptive concept plus the human essence make it truly unique.”
Cristiano Soares and Alejandra Niño saw that vulnerability creates real connection. Deel didn’t pitch—they related. The event built trust through shared hardship.
Pepe Villatoro summarized:
“It was a completely different way to present Deel—not through selling, but through connection.”
This wasn’t just one event. It marked the start of something bigger: a supportive community of HR leaders sharing failure to grow together.
As Rosario said:
“In HR… things go wrong too. And we grow from each fall—with the right attitude.”
Juan Guillermo Ruiz from Deel concluded:
“We learn more when we talk about our mistakes than when we hide behind ego.”
